When he was born, the kids lived with me, and I was working full time then, too. My house is small, and there was no way I could NOT hear him wake up hungry at 2 or 3 am. I'm glad Eric was able to find the house he wanted, and they were able to move into their own home when Robert was 4 months old.
I do have to say, he really isn't bad. He listens to us very well. The way he behaves for grandma and grandpa, I'd have to say that if we did have him here 24/7, we couldn't ask for a better child!
And he has been taught "please and thank you" and he has a special way of asking for things that makes him hard to "say no" to.
He's done this since he was a baby; he'll tilt his head a bit, raise his eyebrows, and while he's asking for whatever, slightly nod his head in the "yes" motion and have a small, pitiful looking smile... one that threatens to turn into a quivering lower lip if he doesn't get the answer he is hoping for. I can only imagine, that's to prompt the "yes" answer that he's looking for. He started to do this at SUCH a young age, he couldn't have had the knowledge and experience to know... |
| This photo was taken just before his 1st Birthday.
He was SO happy when he was eating... so much so, you had to be happy with him while you watched him eat!
Dawn had this photo scanned at Kinko's and used it to create the "thank you" cards she made (with our help with the computer) for everyone that attended his first Birthday Party. |
Another photo of him eating... taken at his 2nd Birthday party!
Yes, actually he does do other things besides eat... tho we seem to get more photos of him eating than anything else...
I wonder why that is? Have to say one thing for him -- he sure does enjoy eating... ha ha!
He's going on 6 now, and still doesn't understand (or acts like it ...hmmmm...) that when we have birthday parties for other members of the family, it's not HIS birthday, too!
So, someone usually gets something that he can 'open' at the birthday party, can be something small like a bottle of bubbles, or a coloring book and crayons, etc.
It makes him happy. Tho, he does like to 'help' whoever's birthday it is... to blow out the candles on the cake! |
| For a while, they had a dog, Sirus. When he [the dog] had been misbehaving, he would have to go stay in his cage.
One day, after being scolded and going into his cage, Dawn walked into the kitchen to see Robert ...
"If my dog has to stay in here, I stay in here with my dog!!" |
This photo was taken Christmas '96, he looks like such a "nice boy" -- HAH! Actually, he really IS - but at 2 years old, and had discovered "playing outside with Char'rie" (Charlie), a neighborhood friend, he's rarely this clean anymore.
not if HE can help it, *grin*!
LOL - my daughter should have gotten the camera the day Robert and Charlie discovered that the hose dragged into a grass-less area of the back yard made some neat stuff! MUD !
| And, of course, with his Daddy being in a band (plays bass guitar), Robert has to play an instrument and practice weekly with the guys, too!!
Actually, he has a drum set, too, one purchase that his parents have lived to regret!! Hah!! |
~ Next Photo is Joan, Mom & Dad ...
